The poetic nature-lovers can admire the sea, mountains and greenery, while the party animals can dance to music at beach clubs. Such a diverse environment combined with the warm culture and delicious food allowed Bali to win the Traveller’s Choice award twice!

Bali Has Everything

Known as “the island of the gods”, it has become the go-to place for honeymoons, digital nomads and backpackers around the globe. Such popularity rises from the impressive spectrum of lifestyles it can cater to.

How To Prepare For Bali

1. How Much Can It Cost?

Even though Bali is the most expensive tourist destination in Indonesia, it is not out of reach for the average tourist. For one whole week of accommodation, transportation, food and drink, you might have to spend around a thousand bucks per person.

2. When Should I Go?

Although Bali has a comfortable climate all year round, it is most impressive to visit during the summertime. Between April and September, Bali is the perfect place to try out all it has to offer – beach walks, hiking, diving, surfing and festivals.

The months you should avoid are January, February and October since they see a lot of rain, which may mean you want to stay indoors most of the time instead of participating in fun activities.

3. What Should I Pack?

Depending on your planned activities and lifestyle priorities, your ideal place to stay in Bali can vary. Pick your ideal holiday destination based on your preferences:

  • Laid-Back: Canggu, Sanur, Ubud
  • Quiet: Bedugul, North Bali
  • Upscale: Uluwatu, Seminyak, Nusa Dua
  • Party: Kuta, Legian, Seminyak
  • Surfing: Kuta, Canggu, Nusa Lembongan
  • Diving: Sanur, Nusa Penida
  • Hiking: Ubud, Mount Batur, Abang, Karangasem

Where To Go In Bali?

There are plenty of places to visit in Bali. For those travelling there for the first time, here are a few suggestions based on popularity.

1. Temples

Being a culturally-rich province, Bali is filled with exquisitely designed temples close to both land and sea. The most prominent among them is the Tanah Lot temple built on a rock surrounded by the sea. Its iconic placement close to Canggu Beach lets you experience spirituality with a picturesque view and the sound of surrounding crashing waves.

If you want to hear that sound from a mountain, the Uluwatu Temple is sitting on a cliff waiting to welcome you.

Another tourist favourite is the Pura Besakih temple, with its architectural beauty and layers of colourful floral specimens that accentuate the stairs.

2. Rice Terraces

Rows and rows of plants in the rice terraces of Tegalalang or Jatiluwih bend to and fro in the wind. Along with taking a few hikes, you can also spend some time there embracing the heavenly greenery over a quick lunch.

On the way to Jatiluwih, the panoramic view of multiple terraces laid down before the gigantic mountains looks like a painting coming to life. It is much larger than Ubud’s Tegalalang and also has the tallest volcano of Bali called Mount Agung.

3. Kintamani in Mount Batur

Mount Batur is ideal for adventurous souls looking for some thrill and natural beauty simultaneously. It has an active volcano called Kintamani with a popular trek surrounding Caldera lake. Standing on the peak of its crater rim makes people wish they could fly away over the sweeping view laid in front.

What To Do In Bali?

Surfing and Scuba Diving

Surfing and scuba diving are both among the biggest attractions for tourists in Bali. The beaches of Kuta, Canggu and Nusa Lembongan serve gigantic rolling waves which surfers have loved to dominate since the 1930s.

On the other hand, scuba diving in diverse islands like Nusa Penida will let you spend some time with manta rays and octopuses. Being part of the Coral Triangle, Bali can offer high biodiversity of marine life including fish, turtles and corals.

Film Festivals

The cinephiles can find new local and international movies to love at the annual Bali Film Festival or Balinale. Its wide variety includes both independent movies by newcomers and award-winning films of seasoned directors.

Another yearly event to keep in mind is the Minikino Film Week (MFW) – an international short film festival being held since 2015.

Buzzing Nightlife

After relaxing during the day with delicious food and rejuvenating massages, you can go partying at night around the strip of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. The clubs in these places cater to a broad range of customers with different budgets, styles and crowds.

Bali is undeniably a unique holiday destination where you can either take new adventurous risks or just chill for hours. It can be romantic and luxurious for couples on honeymoon, or thrilling and convenient for backpackers on a budget.

However, make sure to leave the place as clean as you found it after your trip is done. Otherwise, its overcrowded beaches may become more polluted in the future and lose their appeal.

At the end of the day, Bali can be whatever you want it to be!

Today's Weather In Bali
